POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Architect (PA) is the team leader in the production of the construction documents. The PA is the secondary contact with the client and is responsible for the day-to-day contact with the engineering consultants.

REPORTS TO
  • Project Manager, Studio Manager or Partner
  • Project Manager and Partner conduct annual reviews

SUPERVISES: One to four Architects, Designers and Interns

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Performed primarily an in office environment including client visits
  • May be exposed to construction sites
  • Work hours may vary above 40 hours per week depending upon workload and project deadlines, attending community meetings, etc.
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying drawings of various weights

CAREER PATH
  • Horizontal growth may include: moving to another studio or division as a project architect, move to the construction administration area, move to QC, or involvement in specification writing and development.
  • Advancement to the next level of Project Manager:
    • Acquiring seven to ten years of relevant diverse experience as a Project Architect
    • Master degree in Architecture preferred
    • Fulfill management training
    • Perform business development to acquire new business for the firm
    • Assuring that uniqueness is addressed in design
    • Perform within aggressive project schedules
    • Acquire problem solving and negotiation skills


Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture
  • Minimum two years experience as a registered Architect
  • Licensed Architect in Wisconsin
  • Experience working with AIA forms and contracts
  • Codes experience and application proficiency
  • Autodesk Revit proficiency
  • PC skills with industry accepted software
  • Ability to travel between the office and client/job sites on a regular basis
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

General:
  • Coordinate the production of the construction documents
  • Coordinate with the engineering consultants
  • Works closely with Project Manager
  • Maintain the quality control of the drawings and specifications
  • Process and coordinate the in-office construction phase of projects including shop drawings, RFP's and RFI's
  • May provide construction observation for certain projects
  • May be required to participate in the marketing of new clients, presentations, and trade shows
  • May act as mentor to new team members

Financial / Administration:
  • Responsible for managing project hours as directed by the Project Manager
