As a member of the Government Operations Strategic Solutions team, you'll work alongside a high caliber team as you work to enhance outcomes for our member and provider community by resolving issues, eliminating errors and simplifying the experience. In the Market Engagement Specialist role, you will be responsible for the managing the relationship between C&S health plans and the Appeal & Grievances (A&G) operations team. You will lead improvements to provide consistent, high quality outcomes for our customers and implement processes to identify issues quicker, recover with speed and root cause to eliminate future occurrences.

In this role, you are responsible for end-to-end business process activities ?? creating, controlling and improving business processes. You will drive process design and optimization efforts and lead project implementation teams in process improvement activities. You will diagnose process gaps, identify process improvement opportunities and develop solutions using principles of process excellence and related tools. This position is also responsible for quality reporting, control monitoring and analysis; and for developing plans and programs to support continuous quality improvement using applicable tools.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 7:00 AM - 4:30 AM OR 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with partners across the enterprise to drive A&G operational excellence
  • Ensure compliance and performance guarantee misses are fully root caused and remediated to improve overall performance
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive performance, experience, and efficiency improvements
  • Facilitate resolution of health plan, compliance, and member and provider issues and concerns
  • Communicate with clarity, with a solid understanding of performance metrics and drivers
  • Understand and educate the C&S A&G leadership on State and Federal Regulator Requirements and Health Plan needs
  • Serve as a trusted resource for the local Health Plan and assure that every State requirement, process, project, and service is effectively executed

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience (claims, call center, appeals and grievances, and provider operations, health plan, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience conducting root cause analysis and process improvement in a highly matrixed environment
  • 3+ years of experience cultivating and sustaining relationships with cross-functional leadership teams in matrix environment
  • 3+ years of experience working with internal OR external stakeholders
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ability to create, edit, save, and send spreadsheets) and Microsoft PowerPoint (ability to create, edit, save, and send presentations)
  • Comfort and ability to travel up to 10% of the time to UHC worksites
  • Ability to work any 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:00 AM - 4:30 AM OR 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM including flexibility based on business need
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor??s Degree (or higher)
  • Medicaid, CHIP, Long Term Care, and / OR Government Health Plan experience
  • Appeal and Grievance experience
  • UHC Health Plan experience
Telecommuting Requirements:
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 - $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $87,900 - $156,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
