Overview

With a clear understanding of Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps programs, the Recruiter will develop and implement a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to successfully recruit qualified, diverse AmeriCorps members to serve as Reading Corps or Math Corps tutors serving in preschools, elementary schools, and/or middle schools. The Recruiter is responsible for full-cycle recruitment for their assigned requisitions, which includes conducting recruitment plan/strategy meetings with assigned schools/sites and maximizing their support, partnering with program managers, pipelining/sourcing, college recruitment/networking, community outreach, and using social media and other online resume databases to target applicants. The recruiter will screen applications, schedule and conduct phone screens/final interviews and present offers.

 

The Recruiter will demonstrate the behaviors expected from all members of the TA team: a passion for the benefits of service, recruiting top talent while providing superior customer service to and working collaboratively with applicants, sites and program managers. TA staff will demonstrate an ongoing interest in learning about upcoming recruitment trends, practices and activities and the willingness and passion to share learnings with others and to learn from them.

Responsibilities

 This position will observe confidentiality of all applicant, program and organizational information.

  1. Full-cycle recruitment (60%): Implement a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to successfully recruit qualified, diverse AmeriCorps members to serve as Reading Corps or Math Corps tutors within assigned region. Successfully present the service opportunities and managing applicant concerns that lead to their becoming AmeriCorps members. Responsible for developing and maintaining positive applicant relationships acting as primary point-of-contact throughout process. Conduct customized recruitment planning sessions with program managers and schools/sites. Develop strong cooperative partnerships with schools/sites and program managers to maximize their support. Build healthy and diverse applicant pipelines to ensure sufficient applicant flow through multiple channels including internet, grass-roots and various other sourcing activities. Manage a high volume requisition load in assigned region. Review applications, conduct phone screens/final interviews, extend offers and ensure a successful handoff to program managers. Provide a culturally competent application and interview process. Effectively manages process and accurately updates Applicant Tracking System and other TA systems. Continually monitor TA metrics such as number of applicants in the pipeline, number of applicants in process and their status and source effectiveness to gauge the success of TA tactics and strategies and adjust as necessary.
     
  2. Sourcing Strategies, Campus Recruiting, Community Outreach and Alternative Creative Sourcing (20%): Responsible for sourcing a robust pool of candidates to meet the needs of the programs.
    1. Responsible to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with assigned college(s) in order to build diverse pipelines of applicants. Activities may include conversations/information sessions with career centers, education department heads, student/cultural groups. Attend college career and internship fairs, conduct on-campus interviews.
    2. Seek out and build partnerships with local community organizations such as workforce centers, employment assistance organizations, and support agencies serving diverse populations to promote service opportunities. Throughout the year, attend events to promote Reading and Math Corps.
    3. Proactively conduct and recommend new creative ways to source applicants to ensure a quality applicant pipeline for assigned openings. This could include the use of internet sourcing techniques, direct contact with potential applicants and other creative efforts. Research of state-of-the art recruitment methods, can be done by attending local conferences/trainings, webinars, seminars and through online research.
    4. Encourage individuals you interact with who may be good prospects to apply throughout your personal and professional day.
    5. Follow departmental procedures and responsible to maintain current data on recruitment and applicant activity in applicant tracking system.
       
  3. Customer Service (20%): Ensure an excellent experience for applicants, sites and program managers, throughout the entire application process from sourcing/pipelining activities to offer accepted. Communicate accurately and timely to applicants regarding their status. Facilitate the applicants’ swift and smooth completion of the entire process leading up to onboarding as an AmeriCorps member. Regularly update the sites and program managers regarding applicants in the pipeline and their statuses, forward looking projections, ongoing recruitment and sourcing efforts, interviews and offers. Provide site with training/overviews of and participate in the final interview process, to ensure a clear understanding of the interview process and their roles. Ensure a smooth and successful handoff to program manager for onboarding.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of one year experience in full-cycle recruiting for high volume positions in multiple locations or other relevant work.
  • Experienced, well versed in networking, screening, placement, and successfully presenting talent opportunities.
  • Experience in developing talent networks from a variety of sources including college/university programs, social networks, and community groups. Experience with or strong interest in uncovering unique talent pools.
  • Knowledge and experience in executing a robust selection process; this should include an understanding of a structured interviewed process which includes behavior based questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide an excellent experience for hiring managers including conducting recruiting strategy meetings and executing on them and providing timely and meaningful status on recruitment related efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Must have an ability to think out-of-the-box. Will need to identify a host of uncommon networks in building a talented and critical mass for positions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within assigned geographic region within the state.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with talent acquisition metrics with the ability to interpret relevant data.
