Job Summary

The Payroll Benefit Auditor is responsible for partnering with external auditors and conducting audits on clients/employers within the Special Accounts teams of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND). This position performs financial audits on employer contributions and fringe benefit administration to ensure controls are operating efficiently and to confirm client operations and financial reporting complies with contractual requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Develops the purpose, scope, objectives, and procedures for assigned audit projects.
  • Reviews accuracy and timeliness of incoming financial reports and conducts audits on the client’s employer contributions and fringe benefit administration.
  • Collaborates with internal team members to ensure initial findings are resolved and follows up accordingly.
  • Organizes and prepares detailed documentation to support audit findings and communicates these results to board members, plan participants, client employer groups, attorneys, and the management team.
  • Serves as the central, primary contact for all incoming audits within the team.
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of audit files and financial statements completed by department staff. Provides status reports on a regular basis to internal and external stakeholders regarding findings/progress.
  • Maintains positive and professional relations with clients through effective and timely communication and education.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates meetings with the boards of trustees, external auditors, committees, attorneys, employer groups and leaders.
  • Conducts follow-up audits to ensure recommendations have been implemented.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's

Preferred: Bachelor's

Field(s) of Study: Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

 

Experience Requirements

Required: Minimum of 3 Years

Preferred: Minimum of 5 Years

Experience Details: Minimum of 3 years of auditing, risk management, project management, accounting, insurance or related experience is required.
