The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing professional mechanical design (plumbing, HVAC and process). The Mechanical Engineer supports marketing efforts in acquiring commercial mechanical sales (construction, service, retrofit and preventive maintenance) and performs all aspects of project management as assigned.

Responsibilities:
o Provide internal engineering assistance to project managers.
o Perform detailed engineering calculations in regards to heating and cooling loads, code compliance, plumbing design and appropriate ASHRAE standards.
o Determine manpower requirements for engineering services and assist with evaluating staffing and projects.
o Review design considerations with staff.
o Oversee the day to day mechanical drafting operation to maximize daily production.
o Provide support materials to assist other departments in procuring work as a design/build contractor.
o Develop contacts for obtaining new engineering and construction projects for the company.
o Develop and track sales, sales leads, and promote department services. Interact with other departments to promote cooperative sales and production efforts.
o Oversee and direct efforts related to production and quality control.
o Estimate job costs and present all proposals to be submitted for review.
o Perform the management of assigned projects to meet targeted schedules and costs. Ensure rapid project close-out and turnover.
o Set up individual projects.
o Purchase materials and utilize competent inventory analysis and inventory control.
o Promote company safety and incentive programs.
o Complete billings, approve invoices and material slips.
o Resolve disputes with clients and past due accounts efficiently.
o Maintain, institute, and protect all company equipment, vehicles and personnel policies.
o Track and control labor and material costs of jobs.
o Work with prime and subcontractors on all phases of projects including schedules, change orders, submittals, quality control, etc.
o Review purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify that they do not compromise company policy or exceed intended scope of work.
o Additional duties as required.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
o-Ability to perform engineering calculations to meet codes, standards, and additional owner requirements with special emphasis on computer lead estimating and analysis programs.
o-Proficient with Auto CAD and related drafting software programs.
o-Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
o-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.
o-Knowledge of basic algebra and geometry with the ability to apply related concepts.
o-Interpersonal skills and oral / written communication skills.
o-Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, business correspondences, and memos.
o-The ability to effectively present information to customers, vendors, subcontractors and colleagues within a one-on-one or group setting.
o-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
o-Excellent problem solving skills.
o-Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
o-Must not be afraid of heights and must be able to position extension ladder to access roof.
