Position Overview

The Account Development Sales Representative has the main responsibility to identify and develop new customers and sales opportunities within our core customer base. The ideal candidate must be a confident, motivated individual with great organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.

This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance.

The Account Development Sales will work with Assigned Account Sales, Assigned Account Managers, and AA leadership to act as the first point of contact with existing and new customers answer their queries and increase customer satisfaction. This position involves working with both our internal team and external customers improving sales engagement, customer knowledge of Digi-Key services. This role will advocate to AA Leadership regarding customer needs (e.g. net account terms, shipping terms) in order to provide best possible service to the customer

The Account Development Sales position is generally focused on sales opportunities for customers that are not currently supported within the Assigned Accounts Department. The expectation of the position includes researching the customer's immediate component needs while aligning the business solutions Digi-Key has to offer.

Responsibilities

Must be able to...
  • Research and profile unassigned customers
  • Identify profitable customers to potentially be assigned in AA
  • Educate customers on DK services and align DK's services with customer needs
  • Actively begin to network throughout the building
  • Research and profile unassigned customers
  • Identify profitable customers to potentially be assigned in Assigned Accounts
  • Understand cost to resale calculations and manage gross profit to set guidelines
  • Educate customers on Digi-Key services and align with customer needs
  • Utilize internal/external resources and tools to capture business
  • Build professional relationships internally/externally
  • Follow up on sales leads/opportunities
  • Monitor Sales Activity
  • Proactively grow customer relationships
  • Organize the internal sales process
  • Actively participate in business related communications
  • Align Digi-Key's solutions with customer needs
  • Maintain and comply with US Export Laws (Int'l Only)
  • Know & understand department & region KPIs|OKRs; be able to align & articulate how your actions|recommendations as Sr. ADS impact those metrics (within your scope of responsibility)

Other Typical Tasks May also Include:
  • Participate in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Take on additional responsibilities from the Assigned Sales leadership
  • May test system updates/applications
  • May participate in customer conference calls and strategy meetings
  • May participate on cross-functional working teams or tasks forces
  • May participate in the creation of training & documentation of processes as well as the facilitation of training
  • May travel - internationally and|or domestically - as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the training provided (system 'know-how' & sales 'know-how')
  • Typically, 0-1 year of Digi-Key experience in Sales, Marketing, or other relevant work experience
  • Understand of the various functions of Digi-Key and the industry Digi-Key operates in
  • Knowledge of Digi-Key brand and its principles
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Must be able to perform the following behavioral competencies; attention to detail, customer/client focus, ethical conduct, initiative, manages execution, personal effectiveness/credibility, positive attitude and professionalism
