Design Drafter

Ops Designer/Drafter ll (Layout Drafter)

• Produces limited difficulty drawings of parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies and weldments with some degree of supervision.
• Prepare bills of materials, routes and other documentation for custom jobs
• Generate 3D CAD models and detailed drawings and assemblies of new and existing designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and technicians to optimize new and existing designs and works closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
• Work directly with customer care to insure product specifications are correctly applied to parts and/or jobs and answer any questions or concerns
• Transform initial rough product designs from customers into working documents using computer aided design (CAD) software
• Create approval drawings for customer review and approval
• Maintain CAD files and corresponding documents in data management system.
• Process engineering change requests, updating all applicable documents to current company standards.
• Adhere to and apply current industry drafting standards for detailed drawings.
• Performs investigation to obtain missing information and to insure all specifications are correctly presented in documentation.
• Review documentation from other engineers and designers in a document review process.
• Use and apply basic mechanical fits/tolerances/GD&T principals and stack-ups to new and existing products.

JOB CRITERIA:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Two year degree in drafting
• Up to 3 years' of drafting/design experience
• Enovia or other file management system experience preferred
• SolidWorks experience required
• Knowledge of sheet metal design preferred

• Works cooperatively and effectively with all in the organization and outside the organization (i.e., customers, suppliers, etc.).
• Able to use common PC/Workstation software applications.
• Work independently with a high level of accuracy to complete assigned projects on time.
• Able to effectively organize and plan personal workload.
• Able to use CAD system(s) to effectively produce required documents.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and manufacturing processes, and ability to effectively apply standard drafting practices.
• Demonstrated skills in attention to detail and accuracy
• Skill in written and oral communication with the ability to interface with people across multiple functional areas
• Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships across functional areas
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment
• Knowledge of sheet metal design
