About the Team The Business Coordination Division is responsible for providing internal consultancy, coordination, and oversight services that support SWIB's investment mandate. The primary functions of the division include: Providing strategic guidance and direction related to industry trends, practices, and issues involved in the implementation and continuous improvement of SWIB's current, transitional, and target end-to-end infrastructure. Engaging with key business stakeholders to evaluate and oversee the implementation of new capabilities to grow and transform SWIB's investment capabilities. Promoting agency-wide alignment, standardization, and overall quality management through implementing, supporting, and overseeing various governance and control functions (e.g. protocols, business change process, SimCorp platform administration). Facilitation of role-based and agency-wide education on SWIB's critical end-to-end functions. Migrating SWIB from the current state to target state operating model (people, process, technology, data). The team seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst to leverage broad asset management industry experience (front-middle-back office) to serve as a key member of the Governance, Administration, and Integration Team that is responsible for establishing SimCorp Dimension as the core backbone of SWIB's end-to-end infrastructure and defining the integration strategy with the current architecture during the transitional state. Position Overview The Senior Business Analyst, Investment Systems & Integration role is responsible for driving and overseeing the strategic migration of SWIB's various business units and investment strategies they manage into an integrated, single multi-asset platform. This is a key role within the organization that ensures standard industry practices are implemented in an efficient and scalable manner as SWIB seeks to consolidate multiple platforms, outsourced services, bespoke processes, and data sources into a centralized end-to-end portfolio management platform supported by internal operational groups. This role will work closely with the PMO to engage the investment teams, trading desk, compliance, operational teams, performance, data, technology, and finance teams to strategically migrate portfolios to the new platform. Additionally, a key aspect of the role is to ensure and organizational readiness of the necessary people, processes, and 3rd party systems required to integrate SWIB's internal public markets, private markets, and various hedge funds, overlays, exposure, and transition strategies run by SWIB's investment teams onto the centralized platform. The role is a key partner to the vast majority of teams across SWIB and is instrumental to developing SWIB's internal middle office capabilities and ensuring world-class operational support is achieved on behalf of SWIB's key stakeholders. The following activities are expected to be completed by the Senior Business Analyst: Strategy Guide and oversee the end-to-end investment and operational processes and workflows as they are defined and implemented to support SWIB's investment strategies. Prepare and maintain strategic documents, visuals, diagrams, and other appropriate tools to facilitate organizational alignment of the target state. Actively participate in the design of solutions for complex issues and strategies on the platform. Stay abreast of SWIB's strategic needs and capabilities roadmap as defined within the investment division business plans Advocacy Work with Governance & Control team to establish key performance indicators to be reported to SWIB's executive leadership (Management Council) and used to identify opportunities for continuous process improvements. Define and maintain success measures and metrics for the integrated platform that are used to report on progress toward the target state objectives. Working closely with the operational directors and management team, proactively assess operational readiness for ongoing migration of assets to the new platform, and align with the overall program's roadmap and schedule. Proactively engage with SWIB's core vendor relationships to assess capabilities and advocate new product functionality to align with future business needs. Governance Advocate for industry standards, mitigation of operational risk, and internal protocol adherence. Seek out best practices and industry trends to support the implementation efforts of new instruments and investment capabilities. As a member of the Governance, Admin, and Integration team, serve as a key gatekeeper to changes within the Target Architecture Model, data flows, and operational processes Participate in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standard protocols. SimCorp Relations Engage with the vendor as the primary relationship point of contact for the end-to-end platform across all SWIB business units. Collaborate with vendor manager and legal team to negotiate SOWs pertaining to future platform enhancements, consultants provided by the vendor, upgrades, and procurement of any additional modules or services as part of the vendor contract. Oversee and approve proposed changes within the production environment, including production enhancements, code/configuration changes, and act as a final sign-off on integrated, end-to-end QA testing before the deployment of changes within the production environment. Essential activities: Gather data for the development of investment strategies and trading signals. Data of interest will exist in several forms and will require different methods and techniques to obtain, prepare, and save for analysis. Data can come from established data providers, such as Bloomberg, or lightly formatted or unformatted web page scrapes. Verify and store data as appropriate for analysis and/or streaming for real-time decision making. Assist in the analysis of the collected financial data to build market knowledge and expertise. Document and present research results. Prepare reports and presentations to monitor investment and trading strategies, including P/L, ex-post risk, etc. Work with other teams, e.g. operations and IT, as necessary to build capabilities including new investible security types. Specialized projects as assigned. The ideal candidate: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Management or Finance. 10 plus years of experience within the investment management industry. Substantial knowledge of the end-to-end operational lifecycle, including the processes, workflows, systems, and investment tools e.g., SimCorp, Eagle PACE, MarkIt EDM, eFront, Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI, and/or BlackRock Aladdin to support SWIB's investment business. Substantial knowledge of capital markets and the investment management industry through the lens of SWIB's investment mandate and mission. Detailed exposure to various investment types, security types, and asset classes, with a solid understanding of what makes each unique and its intended application within the investment strategy. Detailed familiarity with investment management industry best practice workflows. Highly collaborative and able to navigate internal and external organizational structures to create strong partnerships. Hands-on experience creating presentation materials for a target audience of executive level management and fund boards.
