THE POSITION

The Payroll and Compensation Manager is a newly created role and leads Dessert Holdings payroll and compensation functions for North America. This is a transformational role as we consolidate the current four payroll systems into one and enhance our compensation tools and systems. This role will ensure pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. It will also develop and maintain compensation structures to maintain market competitiveness and payroll/compensation policies and processes to ensure effective management of our rewards systems. The role will work closely with the finance organization to ensure accurate accounting, planning, and reporting for costs and tax implications.

This position will lead the field Payroll Team and be responsible for providing guidance on work distribution and training needs.

Dessert Holdings is going moving through a period of rapid growth, both organically and through acquisition. This will provide opportunities for career growth in other HR areas as well as potential expansion of this role into Benefits and HRIS.


2022 Key Deliverables:

Support effective payroll systems consolidation in early 2022 and development of a consolidated compensation structure with associated administrative tools and policies.

Enhance reporting dashboard for headcount, turnover, payroll costs, open positions, pay equity, and inclusion.

Work with field payroll team to identify process improvements and best practice sharing across our facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent HR and Payroll on Payroll consolidation project in 2022 assisting in evaluation and selection process.

Oversees compensation practices and policies and leads associated compensation projects and integrations.

Administers, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Partners on the creation and oversight of position descriptions, job codes, job classifications and salary structures.

Conducts compensation benchmarking and analysis.

Supervises and participates in the daily workflow of the Payroll Team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates as well as recommending updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

Works closely with Finance on pay policies and compensation structures.

Researches and advises on upcoming changes to regulations or practices.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws, and best practices, staying abreast of necessary changes and reporting requirements

Provides consultation and training for Human Resources, Payroll, and Business Leaders, as appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience or 10+ years of related experience

Experience managing Payroll of 400+ employees

Experience in multi-state payroll, exposure to Canadian payroll is a plus

1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience

Excellent communicator who can work with people on all levels in a pleasant and professional manner

Driven and self-motivated with strong collaboration skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as analytical skills
