The State Agricultural Heritage Museum at South Dakota State University is offering an exciting career opportunity as an Exhibits Coordinator. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join our team as an integral part of the museum. Under the supervision of the Director, the Exhibits Coordinator performs duties related to the design, construction, installation, and presentation of the museum's in-house, traveling, and online exhibitions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Exhibits Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and a hands-on approach for the development and implementation of interpretation that enhances the Museum's mission and builds diverse audiences. This position leads the Exhibits Committee in seeking new and innovative designs and materials to best present the desired visual effect and educational message. The Exhibits Coordinator recommends solutions to design problems and is responsible for completing projects on time and on budget. This position ensures that exhibitions produced by the Museum on site, off site, or digitally are well researched and represented in accordance with the Museum's mission, policies, and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

???Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Theater, Museum Studies, Industrial Design, Studio Arts, or a related field completed by date of hire;
??? Minimum of three years of related experience in creating interpretation in physical and digital spaces;
??? Demonstrated organizational and project management skills (i.e., setting an exhibition schedule, managing a budget, and delegating tasks);
??? Demonstrated creative and technical ability showcased in a portfolio;
??? Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
??? Excellent fabrication and drafting skills using wood, metal, and plastic, basic electrical and mechanical skills;
???Excellent oral and written communication skills;
??? Proficient with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop;
??? Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
??? Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
??? Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days for hire, and willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

???Master's degree in art, design, museum studies or a related field;
??? Demonstrated experience with video editing, desktop publishing, animation and drafting software;
??? Demonstrated successful supervisory experience with volunteer and students;

???Demonstrated knowledge and interest in agriculture.

MUSEUM:

The State Agricultural Heritage Museum's mission is to inspire a passion for the diverse history, culture, and science of agriculture in South Dakota. We are the leader in the preservation of South Dakota agricultural history and in connecting diverse audiences to the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. The Museum has 10,000 square feet of exhibit space and has an average annual attendance of 10,000 visitors. The Museum is a department of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.
