Position Description: Perform routine clinical and procedural tasks to keep the Plover, Wausau, Merrill, and Medford offices and clinics running smoothly. This is a full-time position, primarily working out of Wausau with occasional travel to outreach as needed. Hours are 7am - 5pm, M-F.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

1. Escorts patient to exam room, using AIDET tool; every patient every time. (People)

2. Assists patients in completing Pain History Form, Intermediate History Form, Controlled Substances Agreement, SOAPP and enters date in EMR. (Service)

3. Completes all meaningful use percentile requirements monitored and reported monthly by IT. (Quality)

4. Communicates any clinic delays to Registration Staff to proactively manage patient wait times. (Service)

5. Explains treatment procedures to patient and prepares patient for examination. (Service)

6. Prepares for clinic by obtaining and providing physician with requested documentation, including post-op pictures, previous office notes and out-of-office documents including X-rays, MRI and other related information. (Quality)

7. Performs chart review and enters data in EMR, including chart prep for new patients and chart review for recheck and post-op patients to assure accuracy of information.(Quality)

8. Performs Room & Round every 10 minutes until patient is evaluated by provider; every patient every time. (People) 9. Completes documentation of examination of patient while assisting physician in the exam room, accurately documenting findings in EMR as given by physician. (Quality)

10. Completes process for obtaining urine drug screen. (Quality)

11. Monitors patient use of narcotics and alerts physician to any aberrant behavior, escalation in use or misuse of medication. (Quality)

12. Accurately documents NCV/EMG findings as given by physician. (Quality)

13. Accurately schedules tests, procedures and referrals to other facilities and tracks results.(Quality)

14. Assists physician in performing injections in the clinic setting. (Service)

15. Takes telephone description from patient on their response to injections, documents accurately in EMR and reports findings to physician.(Service)

16. Coordinates the care and flow of patient between provider (referral, consult, EMG, transfer of care) based on physician preference. (Service)

17. Cleans/straightens examination rooms between patients. Disposes of contaminated supplies in accordance with OSHA standards. (Quality)

18. Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies, informs appropriate staff of low supplies for re-order. (Financial)

19. Schedules tests, rechecks, post procedure appointments and follow procedure for Tracking of Test Results. (Quality)

20. May fill for other staff, covering vacations, etc., on an as-needed basis. (Service)

21. Attends 90% of weekly huddles, 80% of monthly department meetings, and all training sessions. (Quality)

Education/Experience: High school diploma or the equivalent required; Current Wisconsin Licensed LPN or Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT required or relevant experience may be considered. Prior orthopaedic or clinic experience is highly desirable. Knowledgeable in HIPAA regulations, holds patient confidentiality to the highest standard.

Desirable Qualifications: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; Ability to put patients at ease and explain physician's instructions. Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Windows environment.
