BECKER, MN (pop. 4,874), conveniently located 20 minutes from St. Cloud and 45 minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul MSA seeks a highly collaborative, team-oriented individual with demonstrated experience in economic development and legislative leadership for its next City Administrator. The community offers the charm of a rural lifestyle with the convenience of city living.
Becker boasts numerous indoor and outdoor recreational amenities, including a robust park system with 749 acres of public recreation space, including access to both the Elk and Mississippi rivers. The city owns and operates the Becker Community Center, which has a full fitness facility, group training and aquatics. The city also owns and operates Pebble Creek Golf Club, a 27-hole course with a restaurant and clubhouse.
The City Administrator is directly responsible to the mayor and city council for the operation of the city including the oversight of a $4.7million general fund budget with all funds totaling $13.2 million, oversight of six city departments and approximately 250 full time, part time and seasonal employees. Police and Public Works employees are represented by collective bargaining units. The mayor and council are elected at large to staggered four-year terms.
The city has 237 acres of industrial land developed with an additional 135 acres available and served with utilities. The city has received an allocation of $20.5 M from the State of Minnesota to assist the city with an expansion of infrastructure for the industrial park. Continued growth is expected for Becker, largely due to a strong school system, proximity to two metropolitan centers, affordable housing, and diverse amenities.

Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, urban studies, community development or a related field; A master's degree is desirable.
- Five years of progressive leadership experience in municipal administration.
- Skilled in budgeting, program development and administration.
- Skilled in collaboration and team building skills with a variety of groups and individuals.
- A thoughtful leader, open to input, yet willing to be decisive as needed
- An active and engaged leader in the community, able to build and maintain partnerships and consensus.
- An innovative and progressive manager knowledgeable in best practices for local government.
- A strategic leader who can assist the mayor and council in anticipating future needs and plan for the same.
- Experienced with the legislative process and comfortable working with elected officials at the state level.
- Experienced with community and economic development, able to relate to business leaders and executives.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with utilities and infrastructure management.
