2022 Intern Program - Opportunities for students

Eligibility

Our next internship program runs through the summer of 2022. We're looking for students who are working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent), and due to complete their studies to be available for a full-time role commencing in 2023.

About The role

You will be an Intern in the Energy & Natural Resources division at IHS Markit, working in the Oil Markets, Midstream, Downstream and Chemicals (OMDC) group. Our experts in this group provide comprehensive historical and forward-looking data and analysis on downstream global oil markets as well as extensive integrated analysis of the global chemical value chain - from energy, feedstocks and derivatives to end use markets.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Analyze data from various databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development and business strategies
  • Manipulate data set and build statistical models
  • Use Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI and SpotFire to interrogate data
  • SQL skills for data retrieval, analysis and data cleansing
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
  • Collaborate with team members and support client retention of ongoing research deliverables.

To be an ideal fit for the role, you should have:
  • A bachelor or master degree (or equivalent) completed no later than May 2023
  • 0-6 months relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated passion or interest in one or more of our key industries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
  • The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
  • Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply


For Analyst applicants, we recommend the following:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance or related field
  • Experience with programming languages such as R/Python
  • Good knowledge of PowerBI or SpotFire
  • Robust knowledge on Database structures (Oracle, SQL)
  • A passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets
  • Be an effective communicator, self-motivated, and able to drive insights into actions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
  • Fluent English language (second language a plus)
  • Ability to explain a technical subject to a non-technical audience
  • Delivering, communicating, and/or presenting results
  • Analytical skills, methodological thinking and problem-solving capabilities
