Kelly is seeking a Property Accountant to work with our non-profit client, a provider of affordable housing and other support services, on a direct hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to step foot into a mission-driven organization that has been changing lives for 50 years and is currently growing their accounting department.


The Property Accountant will:


+ Perform all financial accounting and reporting for a portfolio of individual properties


+ Support the effective operation of properties, including:


+ monthly, or more frequently as needed, financial reviews with each Property Management team


+ ongoing training with property teams to ensure proper recording of transactions and use of Yardi system


+ preparation and delivery of financial analysis of property financial operations


+ monitoring of property cash flows and coordination of cash advance activity with Asset Management and Property Management


+ General ledger and journal entry maintenance for property books (HUD and Stable Properties)


+ Maintain schedules for assets, liabilities, and depreciation


+ Produce accurate monthly and year-end financial statements for management and board members


+ Reconcile bank accounts, utilities, and other vendor accounts


+ Prepare audit schedules


+ Comply with all internal control procedures


+ Assist with site budgets


+ Act as primary resource of financial operation for the property managers and other site personnel


+ Accurately prepare reports for distribution to management and various government agencies


+ Handle weekly Cash Balance Overview


+ Calculate and bill management fees and escrow payments monthly


Qualifications:


+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting


+ Property Accountant 1: Relevant work or internship experience


+ Property Accountant 2: 3+ years of experience with all aspects of accrual accounting through financial statements and audit preparation


+ Property management experience is a plus but not required


+ Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office products


+ Ability to design and/or maintain effective internal control procedures


+ High level of accuracy and detail orientation


+ Ability to work independently and cross functionally


+ Excellent customer service, organization, and both written and oral communication skills


+ Ability to manage multiple duties while adhering to established deadlines


+ Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, gender, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages
