YOUR ROLE

  • Reporting to Global Vice-President of Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs, the Director of Government Relations, Adhesives Technologies is responsible for all aspects of state and federal governmental relations pertaining to Henkel's diverse Adhesives businesses, spanning industries like automotive, electronics, packaging, consumer adhesives, and more.
  • Represent Henkel's Adhesives business before federal, state, and local officials, regulators, relevant trade associations, and legislators and staff, while working to enhance the company's image, brand, and value proposition.
  • Serve as a key advisor on publics affairs and governmental relations issues to many Henkel Adhesives leaders and keep them apprised of trends in the external political, social, environmental, sustainability, and regulatory environments.
  • Lobby on regulatory issues as they impact the company and industry, e.g., laws, regulations, new technologies, and trade practices to ensure a favorable legislative and business environment, allowing Henkel, and its Adhesive Technologies division to manufacture, market and sell its products to a diverse set of customers.
  • Manage all aspects of lobbying compliance for Henkel's North American business, including filing all requisite reports with Congress. Ensure best-in-class approaches to compliance and transparency.
  • Develop a proactive agenda to advance the company's commercial interests creating market opportunities while mitigating risk with entities in the U.S. federal and state governments.
  • Lead continuous and systematic stakeholder mapping & management process to establish a robust political infrastructure for Henkel at federal, state, and local levels and increase interactions with trade associations and governmental agencies to gain a strong foothold on forward-looking political and regulatory agenda topics.
  • Transmit changes in the political and regulatory environment to SBU leadership teams and give strategic political advice for SBU business decisions


YOUR SKILLS

  • Bachelors Degree is required.
  • 5-10+ years of experience built on deep involvement in the federal government legislative and regulatory processes with significant accomplishments in influencing outcomes.
  • A deep understanding of Capitol Hill and the legislative and regulatory process is critically important.
  • Proven track record of leading complex government affairs issues, particularly in the chemical industry or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience working in a governmental affairs function within a company or trade association is required.
  • Innate ability to comprehend and predict critical issues and trends, distill them to their important aspects, formulate an appropriate game plan and communicate strategies to Henkel's senior leadership team.
  • Sound strategic and analytical skills, capable of creating and communicating a vision, both internally and externally, supporting the future direction of the company. This includes the ability to anticipate emerging issues of importance to the industry.
  • Ability to influence and persuasively communicate, orally or in writing, complex concepts, and programs to the highest levels of government, business and press.
  • A diplomatic, hands-on individual with a positive attitude, able to work with the senior management of the company, as well as with the company's consultants on specific issues.
  • Personal qualities must include openness, energy, and commitment; a strong work ethic with unique bandwidth; political sensitivity; creativity; honesty and integrity.
