Position Description & Details:

The Department of Pharmacy Practice at the North Dakota State University School of Pharmacy is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for coordinating and teaching within the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) didactic curriculum, and more specifically teaching multiple sections of a Writing and Professionalism in Pharmacy course as well as coordinating and teaching a portion of a Critical Thinking in Health Professions course each academic year. Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the candidate's specific area(s) of expertise. Additionally, the individual is expected to perform research/scholarship, advise students, and provide service to the School/College/University.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned terminal degree in English or a related field
  • Evidence of scholarly activity related to composition and/or technical writing in the health professions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with health professionals in an academic, consulting or research-related role.
  • Experience teaching critical thinking, reasoning, rhetorical analysis, fallacies of thought, and/or credibility to students pursuing a health professions degree
  • Accumulated at least 3 years of experience teaching in upper-division writing courses for students pursuing a healthcare professions degree

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with rhetoric of health & medicine educational assessment techniques
  • Evidence of an understanding of the professional pharmacy curriculum
  • Research/scholarship experience
  • Evidence of a sustained commitment to professional development as a faculty member
