Position Information

This is a seasonal, non-benefitted position located at our Williston Research Extension Center in Williston,ND. This position will start in spring 2022.

Description, Duties & Responsibilities:

This position reports to the horticulture research specialist. Candidate is required to work under both lab and field conditions in Williston and our Nesson Valley Irrigated site. Duties of the department include management and care of the display garden, landscape grounds, and other horticulture research projects.

Responsibilities include:
  • Planting Vegetables, fruits and flower seedlings in garden and landscape.
  • Weeding, harvesting, and taking notes on strawberries grown in high tunnel, low tunnel, and open field.
  • Collecting data in aspects of horticultural research trials (plant height, yield, and other important traits)
  • Weed and water management in garden, research trial plot, and landscape
  • Mowing (Lawn, Landscape, and Garden)
  • Harvesting vegetable and fruit from research trials and garden
  • Washing and cleaning pots, tools, harvesting trays, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Competencies:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Willingness to learn
  • Effective communication skills
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented individual with team spirit

Work Location:
  • Williston, ND

Hours & Schedule:
  • Mon - Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
