JOB DESCRIPTION:

Works with engineers and production to develop new methods and procedures on assembling and field installation of new high-level equipment designs. Works with production personnel to optimize existing methods and procedures. Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are complicated or intricate. Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams. Operates hand or power tools, or production equipment. Must have thorough understanding of part prints (tolerances, symbols, etc.), perform checks for quality of parts and adjust as required. Good communication skills, written and/or verbal, when corresponding with customers on field installations and service requirements.

Travel is required with this position and can be extensive at times. Which requires flexibility to working hours and days. Weekends may be required at times, however minimal.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs work as outlined on install or warranty work with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company standards.
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
  • Communicates with production department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines equipment to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with customer immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair.
  • Cycle equipment to verify customers concern and after repairs to verify repairs corrected customers concerns.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor and/or customer.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Industrial Maintenance or five years of installation/maintenance experience.
  • Must have experience with electrical wiring and reading schematics for electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Knowledge of programming is a plus.
  • Must have strong mechanical and equipment assembly aptitude. Welding and or machining experience is a plus.
  • Must have good communication skills, problem solving skills and be well organized.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as this position includes travel to customers' facilities.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Individuals will work near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices.
  • Perform math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Knowledge of decimals, fractions, and metric/English conversions.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities that result in reducing variation and waste in the manufacturing process.
  • Operate overhead hoist/crane to assist with the lifting parts into and out of the fixture.
  • Using a specified training format, work closely in training new installation/service technicians.
  • Requires a pre-employment screening which includes, however not limited to, a drug screen and driving report.
