The client has a Sr. Controls Project Manager - Major Projects position available at our Eden Prairie, MN location. The client is a 100% employee-owned company and one of the largest and most well-established (35+ years) engineering companies in the United States. The Senior Project Manager - Major Projects is responsible for working with the business unit operations manager as a multi-project PM. This person will work as directed by the Business Unit leadership team to build and maintain client relations and effectively manage the implementation of large multi-year controls and integration projects. This position will handle multiple projects at once.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

End-to-end responsibility (financial, quality, schedule, safety) on projects of increasing complexity

Prepares and approves charters and execution plans for complex projects

Assists in the development of project management tools and best practices.

Supervises staff necessary to complete assignments

Builds complex project schedules, manages critical path, float, and can demonstrate project "health" via schedule

Manage customer relationships and business expectations during project execution

Develops earned value analysis

Understands and demonstrates risk analysis and mitigation planning for projects

Manages other WM BU tasks/codes vendor equipment, and subcontractor performance

Manages project budgets, effort, variances, change orders, and invoices

Develops and communicates Status Reports, Earned Value Reports, Estimate to Complete Reports, and Committed Cost Reports for medium to complex projects

Prepares and manages project quality plans

Helps develop small and medium-sized project proposals

Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred. An AA in Engineering Technology or equivalent with equivalent experience may be substituted.

5 + years of Project management experience leading medium to large scale automation and controls projects in excess of $500K.

Proven organizational and influencing/soft skills.

Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Greater than 10 years' experience with capabilities in the below areas is preferred:

Multiple industries including food and beverage, power, grain handling, chemical.

Design of electrical schematics, including power distribution, control panels, and associated NEC references desired.

Leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions

PLC ladder logic and function block programming (i.e. Rockwell Automation, Modicon, Siemens)

SCADA programming, scripting, and their applications (i.e. Cimplicity, Wonderware, Intellution, Rockwell Automation)

Knowledge in Databases, SQL, Scripting, Historian and Virtual Machines a plus

Mentoring less experienced engineers

PMP certification a plus.

Working Environment

Standard office environment, on-site office environment, and diverse industrial environments: Working knowledge of personal computer and Microsoft product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project). Must have a valid driver's license, passport, and the ability to travel up to 30%.
