About the Job

POSITION: Full-time, 12-month position at $18.41- $24.00/hr starting as soon as possible. CONCEPT OF CLASSIFICATION: In order for a position to be assigned to this classification, its duties must include evaluating practicum and student teachers in the classroom, which requires a valid Minnesota teachers license. Plan and implement a well-balanced program for an Infant, Toddler and/or Preschool classroom(s) of a childcare center. Assess and identify developmental progress and needs for the individual child. Build, maintain relationships and communicate with families. Provide work direction, routine training, and evaluation of teacher aides and teacher candidates in the classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides oversight, routine training and guidance, and evaluation of teacher aides and teacher candidates in the classroom. Develops and implements daily lesson plans to support and advance physical, social, emotional, and intellectual competence of children. Maintain an attractive, safe, and healthy learning environment that allows children's active participation, independent choices within the context of a structured curriculum meeting childcare licensing standards. Establishes and maintains effective relationship with families and provides timely communication in regards to child's development progress and concerns. Assesses, identifies, and communicates with families level of accomplishment and needs for the individual child against the background of norms of attainment for a developmental stage and individual history.

SUPERVISION: Incumbents in this classification may have the authority to perform or to effectively recommend the following actions: hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign work, reward, discipline, direct the work of other employees, and adjust grievances. Incumbents in this classification who do not have formal supervisory authority may be assigned these responsibilities: mentor/coach or provide guidance; lead project teams, committees and/or other collaborative efforts; interview applicants; assign, schedule, direct work, and/or evaluate the work of colleagues and/or co-workers. Incumbents may have authority to supervise student employees.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree and two years of relevant work experience; Minnesota Pre- kindergarten teacher licensure or equivalent; comply with Rule 11 of the State Human Service Licensing Act, which requires a background study and reference check; and ability to read write, and interpret English. Final job offer contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and successful background check report.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Exhibit excellent time-management, interpersonal and communication skills, and post-secondary degree in education in childhood development.
