This role is equally challenging and rewarding. You'll need to stay positive at all times especially in difficult situations. You'll be asked to mentor, challenge and communicate effectively with all different types of people.

This position is full-time (40hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to key business partners and vendors
  • Understands the Optum Serve Information Technology business needs to influence department's staffing strategy
  • Problem solving based on information and sound judgment
  • Investigates available IT contingent labor suppliers; evaluates and recommends vendors based on user requirements
  • Reviews contracts to ensure that service levels and deliverables are met
  • Evaluates vendor performance, needs assessment, spend optimization, escalation management and risk management
  • Identifies new services solutions and works closely with internal business partners to forecast future needs and to develop cost effective strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Coordinates the negotiation and execution of contracts with the Legal and Contracts departments
  • Communicate key supplier management updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization, including executive leadership
  • Provide labor market intelligence and price trends to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure unified negotiation approach to deliver desired outcomes
  • Demonstrate diversity awareness and ensure vendors are utilizing best diversity hiring practices
  • Create and maintain staffing reports
  • Debrief hiring manager and vendors throughout the recruiting process
  • Develop action plan for hard to fill positions
  • Supports the vendor management team with other tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
  • 5+ years of professional Information Technology, IT Vendor Management or IT Talent Acquisition work experience
  • Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management, Supervisory or Team Leader experience
  • Experience working with IT vendors/suppliers
Telecommuting Requirements:
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while assigning the proper priority levels to each task
  • Must be passionate about contributing to the organization focused on continuously improving business and vendor experiences
  • Strategic thinker - ability to design long-term plans
  • Ability to anchor yourself in the understanding of complex business processes - matching expected business outcomes to daily delivery
  • Ability to manage deliverables through direct vendor team and cross-functional teams
  • Strong collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, flexible and adaptable to changing situations
  • Experience with large established vendors and small start-up vendors
  • Demonstrated vendor relationship work experience

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 - $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $87,900 - $156,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
