Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking an experienced professional to support the Health Office. The ideal candidate is organized, staunchly reliable, energetic, and flexible, and thrives in a highly visible service-focused role where they inspire others through optimism, flexibility, teamwork, creativity, and a "can-do" attitude.

Hours: flexible/as needed, with some remote work, and work hours outside of the school day

Job Responsibilities

Covid-19 responsibilities for the school year: Provide and recommend Covid-19 testing when appropriate for students and staff on campus

Manage and communicate with the Dane County Health Dept, staff, and families about Covid-19 cases as needed.

Answer and address incoming inquiries during, before, and after school hours calls from families related to COVID-19 issues with a customer service and positive patient care experience manner: triaging patient phone calls and questions, calculating quarantine & isolation periods, following up with those in isolation and quarantine,

Collaborates effectively with staff, patients, families, and other health care providers as necessary

Creates an environment that leads to a positive student, faculty & staff care experience by evaluating, planning, and implementing effective care plans within the guidelines of the standards of school nursing care

Uses knowledge, skills, clinical experience, and critical thinking to meet the health care needs of students and faculty;

Provides first aid and emergency care;

Administers medications and treatments to students as approved by school policy;

Maintains and reviews student Health Office electronic profile in OnCampus and other internal records systems;

Communicates current health problems, needs, and concerns of students to their parents and appropriate school faculty and staff;

Provides individualized patient education when warranted

Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy around medical information for all students, faculty, parents, and students

Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Desired Skills and Personal Characteristics

The ideal candidate will have a clinical background, with three or more years of experience, and exceptional assessment skills. This person must be reliable, organized, able to work both independently and on a team, able to multitask, willing to work under busy conditions, and able to collaborate and communicate effectively.

Excellent customer service skills are important. School-based health care experience is preferred; comfort with students from 4 to 18 years old is a must.

Among the many attributes, successful candidates will:

Have an unending love of kids and a desire to get to know each student in the school.

BLS/CPR Trained or Certified

Triage experience a plus

Familiarity with current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases: asthma management, diabetes, seizure management.

Experience in school, pediatric and/or community or public health nursing.

Able to use electronic medical records to support the Health Office;

Have three or more years of relevant experience in pediatrics or school nursing.
