SUMMARY: As a Marketing Program Specialist, you will design and implement marketing programs aimed at driving subscriber retention and loyalty for Forum Communications Company’s (FCC) digital and print news subscription products. You will be responsible for creating and planning marketing, audience engagement and retention-focused campaigns, in coordination with the corporate marketing team, designed to increase subscription use, product engagement and renewals across all FCC markets. This role has the ability to make a big impact in sustaining local journalism in communities all throughout the Midwest.

This position is remote-eligible in Fargo, ND or Duluth, MN.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a solid understanding of all subscription-based product offerings and their value propositions to prospective customers and subscribers.
  • Brainstorm, develop, execute, and measure print and digital campaigns that nurture and engage existing members, drive loyalty, reduce churn, and increase customer lifetime value across multiple channels.
  • Report to the director of pricing and customer analytics with project plans and testable ideas to drive key results
  • Assist FCC markets in designing and implementing print delivery retention programs to help support each property’s subscription targets.
  • Stay in close communication with various market leaders, designing solutions to meet market needs.
  • Keep a pulse on customer support trends to understand why customers cancel subscriptions and work with cross-functional teams within FCC to continuously improve our subscription products based on customer insights.
  • Assist customer success team in developing and measuring stop-save efforts.
  • Based on insights provided by various departments across the organization, including analytics, customer success, and marketing team, make recommendations for strategies aimed at improving customer retention
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices on subscriber retention and integrate innovative ideas into our marketing programs.
  • Collaborate with the email marketing team to build, execute and optimize email programs focused on improving customer engagement and retention.
  • Own the relationship with benefit partners and develop new ideas for ways to add additional value into our subscription products.
  • Develop and distribute surveys to determine customer satisfaction.
  • Consistently increase retention rates and achieve retention goals.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, journalism or related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in a similar role


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
  • Advanced understanding of online customer loyalty programs with a proven track record of executing to improve customer retention.
  • Proficient at learning new technology systems.
  • Ability to absorb insights and create potential solutions
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other metrics platforms is a plus
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
