Job description: The Buyer (level I) is responsible for the execution of the corporate commodity strategies and participating/leading strategies. In addition, the Buyer will be responsible for identifying and implementing new Suppliers and rating/auditing existing Suppliers. The Buyer will also play a key role in negotiations of Suppliers. This position will manage all parts in the commodity. The position will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, implementing and administering terms, also supply agreements for the assigned commodity. Key responsibilities include participating in cross-functional teams, researching best commodity practices, achieving cost reduction initiatives, while keeping high level of customer satisfactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sending out RFQ's (request for quotes) to current and new suppliers
Placing orders from material requisitions
Assuring timely product delivery and product availability for the company
Develop and maintain vendor relations
Monitoring, and analyzing current supplier on time, throughput levels and placing purchase orders as needed
Assist the purchasing manager
Performs other related duties, as assigned
Follow purchasing policies and procedures
Expediting Deliveries
Establish agreements and conditions governing purchases, in addition to resolving routine problems in suppliers performance, root cause analysis
Performs sourcing analyses (internal constraints, external risks, cost analysis and understanding of strategic levers, analysis of the supplier market)
Participate in cost reduction activities
Managing a supply base capable of meeting cost, quality, and delivery commitments
Negotiating pricing, contracts, agreements and discounts
Working with suppliers on Quality of purchased components
Presentation / Meetings with suppliers and Senior Staff
Place purchase orders and maintain adequate
Maintain product data accuracy in ERP (SAP)
Manage 100+ suppliers
Expedite purchase orders when necessary
All other duties as assigned

Ability to analyze complex supplier proposals and use decision-making tools and models, including finiancial and non-financial, to facilitate award recommendations.
Negotiation of commercial agreements and contracts to align with corporate strategies.
Management of overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements.
Development of supplier scorecards and objectives with cross-functional team.
An ability to drive supplier performance to meet or exceed annual goals. High volume purchasing experience.
Development of a packaging innovation pipeline.
A passion to evaluate market trends and key cost drivers to identify and implement cost savings opportunities.
Leading and influencing cross-functional teams consisting of R&D/Corporate Quality, Engineering, Plant Operations and Marketing to define product requirements to meet overall business objectives.
Accountability for financial KPIs (standard price, market analysis, budgeting and estimates)
Supporting operations in extended downtime incidents and waste reduction.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

High volume purchasing experience
Purchasing experience in SAP, ERP
Project Management experience a plus
Solid skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working independently/Self started
Ability to work in fast past/changing environment
Possess strong analytical, communication, organizational, and "attention to details" skills

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

2+ years purchasing experience
Working in large organization/international experience
CPIM or CSCP certification a plus
2+ years of experience in direct materials and buying, preferably in food/Beverage industry
2+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
Equivalent diploma
