Responsibilities:
Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies, sharing consumer and engineering benefits to gain buy-in
Strike the right balance between lending expertise and providing an inclusive environment where others' ideas can be heard and championed; leverage expertise to grow skills in the broader Capital One team
Promote a culture of engineering excellence, using opportunities to reuse and innersource solutions where possible
Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization
Operate as a trusted advisor for a specific technology, platform or capability domain, helping to shape use cases and implementation in an unified manner
Lead the way in creating next-generation talent for Tech, mentoring internal talent and actively recruiting external talent to bolster Capital One's Tech talent

We partner with other teams across the enterprise to develop the right solutions for the right problems at the right time in order to manage technical risk, drive efficiency, and deliver useful and meaningful data insights for our engineers.

In this role, you will provide technology leadership for Cloud and Risk Engineering and will be working across the entire enterprise to ensure that our platforms are well-designed and extensible, that our tooling is useful and effective, and that our internal data is accessible and easy to understand in order to keep teams, applications, and systems operating effectively.

As a senior technologist you will provide career coaching and support for team members to develop their technical, business, and professional skills. You'll be able to identify and remove impediments, while successfully driving delivery for key initiatives. Building and maintaining strong relationships and earning and maintaining confidence with both customers and business leaders are critically important responsibilities for this role.

What you will need to bring for this position:

Experience developing and driving delivery of scalable and sustainable platform, tooling, and automation solutions in an enterprise environment
Passion and curiosity for how we can drive efficiency and economies of scale across cloud environments
Demonstrated ability to balance organizational risk appetite with innovation need
Demonstrated history of cross-discipline consensus building and influence
A proven track record of working across organizations to build consensus and drive progress
A detailed understanding of tools, trends, and patterns within the DevOps community, especially within the AWS and Cloud ecosystems
Clear and concise communication across all levels and technical depths

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least 7 years' experience in software development
At least 5 years' experience with cloud native technologies
At least 3 years of experience identifying and mitigating technology risk in a public cloud environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters' Degree
9+ years' software development experience
7+ years' experience designing and building enterprise platform solutions
