Vaxxinova US is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Accounting Manager to join our team in Willmar, MN.

About the role:

As a key member of the foundation of the Vaxxinova US Finance Department the Accounting Manager will work closely with all departments and management levels within the organization (locally and globally) to help deliver the overall objectives of the company. This critical role will be involved in supporting the day-to-day financial operations, lead the monthly close process, develop management reports, and participate heavily in on-going projects to buildout and enhance the back-office functions of the company.

Main Responsibilities:

Supervisory

  • Manage accounting staff responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, and budget preparation.

Financial Reporting

  • Preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to GAAP reporting and procedural standards
  • Analyzing business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses
  • Developing, maintaining, and analyzing budgets, and preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
  • Assist with the development of the 5-year plan and annual budget
  • Prepare period close functions including locally within ERP as well as corporate consolidation tools
  • Assist with the Treasury functions as needed
  • Report the financial statements in accordance with IFRS monthly to the EW Group head office in Germany.
  • Assist with building short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and related parties.
  • Direct capital expenditure tracking and reporting

Communicating and Advising

  • Aid outside auditors by preparing work papers and financial reports
  • Partner with and consult with General Manager and others to identify any areas requiring special attention or needs
  • Serve as a financial resource person to the assigned entities, explain accounting procedures necessary to fulfill accounting requirements
  • Report to management regarding the finances of the company
  • Provide insights and recommendations regarding business operations as they relate to financial information and accounting processes

Responsibilities as Assigned

  • Specific accounting tasks may vary depending on the company(s) supported by the incumbent (e.g., Month End, Health Insurance/Workers Compensation Claims)
  • Complete special projects as assigned (e.g., standardize and improve accounting procedures)
  • Perform routine and general administrative work required of the accounting function

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Interpret Federal and State laws related to accounting operations and ensure compliance.
  • Partner with CPAs to analyze tax consequences and compliance requirements of business decisions
  • Standardize accounting procedures to ensure appropriate integration of data, work with auditors, and undertake special analyses and projects
  • Provide rapid and meaningful investigation of special project assignments to assist management in the development of solutions to operating problems
  • Assist with the development of the overall foundation of the company back-office policies, procedures, and structure.

Qualifications and Capabilities:

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must have customer service orientation as well as excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Five (5) plus years of professional work experience in Accounting preferred
