Job Description
Miller Electric Mfg, LLC, an affiliate of Illinois Tool Works, continues to build new product development leadership capabilities for designing and launching world class welding solutions that provide strong customer value with superior high-performing, durable systems. This role is a key staff position within the Components Division that will be a valuable resource for New Product Development (NPD) teams within the Industrial and Commercial Welding Platforms. The individual will be responsible for providing reports and feedback on topics such as cost, lifecycle, environmental, and availability of electronic components. They will manage component obsolescence across the business and keep our AVL's in sync with our contract manufacturing partners. Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of having a positive attitude, and a "customer first" mentality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Effectively work with new product development and Strategic Sourcing teams to reduce the component lifecycle, single source, and lead-time risk.
Manage component obsolescence across the business.
Create lifecycle and RoHS analysis reports.
Identify alternate components due to cost, quality, delivery, and life cycle issues while facilitating Divisional approval.
Work with component manufacturers to resolve quality concerns.
Approved Vendor List (AVL) maintenance. Work with contract manufactures to keep AVL's in sync.
Provide leadership to PCBA development and support teams as required during the component and supplier selection process.
Assist materials team with ramping up and ramping down component inventory.
Evaluate and identify cost savings opportunities that support Divisional sourcing initiatives.
Travel to suppliers or Contract Manufacturing partners facilities as needed to support component and/or quality issues.
