This role is critical to continuing financial systems support with the aggressive ramp up of E&I business on Cirrus (new business, migrations, etc.) The position will help ensure accurate Financial and Regulatory reporting. The candidate will support Cirrus, BRMS, UMAS, and the Financial Accounting suite of applications as a business/accounting Subject Matter Expert. The role will contribute to test planning and execution, will be responsible for solution review, user story and acceptance criteria creation, test results acceptance, and collaborating with key business stakeholders to understand their needs and to share results. The role may support other Financial, Reporting, and Regulatory teams as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical and technical support for billed membership, revenue and receivable accounting data
  • Troubleshoot application performance issues, ensure timely corrective action
  • Conduct testing for accounting data migration projects, resolve technical issues
  • Execute projects and ad-hoc requests for reports and analysis involving general ledger account posting
  • Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues
  • Solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Serve as a resource to others
  • Take a leadership role in projects as a Subject Matter Expert including; requirements analysis, writing and execution of test cases, and modification of business processes
  • Operate in an Agile Environment
  • Master knowledge of the systematic processing of financial data from upstream source systems through our accounting functions/systems to downstream sources along with supporting business processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with supporting financial systems interfaces
  • 2+ years of experience in understanding database management fundamentals and systems including data analysis, report development, business and statistical analysis.
  • 2+ years of MS Access development and maintenance with skills in writing queries for reporting.
  • 2+ years of Excel reporting skills including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Experience working with both IT and Accounting personnel on software development projects
  • Accounting experience or education but is interested in utilizing systems and automation to drive and enhance financial reporting
  • Experience with querying large data sets
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with various teams throughout UHC
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and intellectual curiosity with the ability resolve issues/questions
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to internalize, interpret and document complex scenarios clearly and concisely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience with MS Access/Excel Visual Basic modules
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Understanding of SAS and/or SQL
  • Healthcare or insurance industry
  • Understanding of data storage structures
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to automate processes
  • Track record of delivering high quality results
  • Strong Time Management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Self-confident with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Energetic and forward-thinking team player
  • High ethical standards

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
