THIS POSITION IS FOR APPLICANTS IN THE PROCESS OF BECOMING MN POST ELIGIBLE BY NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 31, 2022, CURRENTLY LICENSED AND/OR HAVE LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SWORN OFFICER EXPERIENCE. THERE IS A SEPARATE RECRUITMENT FOR POLICE OFFICER--LATERAL ONLY FOR CANDIDATES CURRENTLY POST LICENSED AND HAVE AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF FULL-TIME SWORN OFFICER EXPERIENCE.

Police Officer -- LATERAL ONLY

The Maplewood Police Department is excited to announce a lateral only hiring opportunity to join our team. The Maplewood Police Department is a well-funded agency highly supported by its community, city management, and the city council. The Maplewood Police Department believes in a family-first philosophy for its employees, with officer safety and wellness being one of our core values.

Officers who are POST licensed or POST eligible with at least one year of full-time experience and an associate's degree are strongly encouraged to apply. This expedited hiring process consists of an informal command level interview then directly into the background. An informal chief's interview will be followed by a standard medical assessment and psychological assessment upon completing the background.

You will enter our organization with the same higher pay rate and annual leave accrual as our current officers with the same years of experience. In addition, upon completing a modified field training program, lateral hires will be eligible to participate in our on-duty workout program, getting paid to utilize our in-house gym during each shift.
