Job Summary:

The design services director (DSD) directs design and production for the Bell Bank brand working with the internal marketing team and external agency partners to develop and deliver a consistent brand across all of Bell’s marketing initiatives.

The DSD will lead the internal design team and assist with project management to ensure all developed materials adhere to campaign guidelines and brand standards. 

This position may have access to the private information of customers, the business, and/or employees; for this reason, this role must adhere to company privacy rules and any applicable laws. 


 Primary Duties: 

The design services director is responsible for the oversight of all internal design initiatives and leading a design team to complete projects. The ideal candidate has the ability to design and execute all visual materials for all relevant marketing channels while managing the project loads of the internal team. They have the following responsibilities:

1. Project Management and Design

  • Leads the artistic development of marketing and promotional pieces, including print, online, mobile, television and radio advertisements; collateral materials; and internal and external corporate publications.
  • Communicates with senior management to ensure all materials adhere to brand standards and reflect the company's core values and ideals.
  • Collaborates with the Channel Marketing team and external creative agencies on special projects. 
  • Supervises and collaborates with an internal team of graphic and visual designers, production artists and videographers to create standout content.
  • Manages project assignments for internal design team to deliver assets on time to stakeholders.
  • Works with team members to develop strategies for advertising campaigns.
  • Collaborates with members of the marketing and/or external media buying team to develop strategies for advertising campaigns.
  • Creates presentations and project plans, meets with stakeholders and ensures successful online representation of clients’ brands.
  • Reviews all graphic materials to assess their validity and appropriateness for the audience and our brand.
  • Regularly looks outward to identify opportunities for improvement and to incorporate advancements in design technology, methods and tools.

2. Team Leadership

  • Leads a design team that works collectively as a creative, collaborative group to share the Bell brand and culture through various marketing channels.
  • Nurtures and fosters individual growth to provide opportunities for all team members and expand skillsets.

Additional Duties:

In order to meet these responsibilities, this person will also:

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, be highly organized and able to work on multiple projects at a time under tight deadlines.
  • Assist with projects, activities and events within the responsibilities of the marketing team.
  • Contribute to a positive environment by working to meet individual and team goals. 

Job Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising, marketing or similar field.
  • 5+ years experience as either an in-house designer or at a marketing agency. We require work samples to apply for this position.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Proficient typing and computer skills relating to PC operations 
  • Ability to quickly and accurately learn new software systems or tools as needed 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to finesse relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and a professional image 
  • Flexibility in handling multiple tasks
