Job Summary:
The role of the Estimator is to Quantity Estimate materials for Cost Estimating purposes. This includes quantity plan reading, on-screen takeoffs, inputs into estimating software, performing estimates, training, scheduling, establishing goals and standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed.
Prepares Quantity Estimates off of Architectural Drawings; Proficient Plan reading skills a must
Resolves quantity discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Prepares special reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
Prepares project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules and other documentation to assure a steady stream of information to the Project Managers/Cost Estimators.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
University degree or college diploma, Construction Degree a plus
Effective oral/written communication, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Ability to analyze information, use documentation, reporting and Estimating skills
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
Capacity to handle pressure.
Strong focus on quality and teamwork
Ability to develop budgets and vendor relationships
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Sage 300 accounting and WinEst estimating software is a plus.
