This Lead Refrigerants and Systems Technology Engineer is responsible for technical leadership of refrigerant strategy, advanced refrigeration systems, and associated technologies for Thermo King Transport Refrigeration and Air Conditioning products. This position is located in Minneapolis, MN and offers a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies and solutions to transition to lower-GWP refrigerants across Thermo King product lines and drive their execution across the business.
    • Formulate approaches that balance performance, safety, and cost, while navigating the landscape of regulations, codes & standards.
    • Lead the technical assessment, selection, and deployment of low-GWP refrigerants for Thermo King products and their implementation in facilities and dealerships.
    • Collaborate internally and externally to develop industry standards for the application of mildly flammable refrigerants in transport refrigeration applications.
    • Interface with external organizations to keep abreast of industry trends, codes and standards, and collaborate in research - acting as ambassador for the company.
  • Lead and contribute to projects to develop advanced transport refrigeration systems and component technologies.
    • Collaborate in the modeling of refrigeration systems and components - evaluate system architectures and refrigerant performance.
    • Act as a subject matter expert in refrigeration systems and refrigerants - advising and participating on system technology and product development programs.
    • Research and apply advanced technologies to drive step-changes in product performance, customer value, and sustainability.
    • Drive the development and test of technologies for compressors, refrigerants, and systems.
  • Effectively connect solutions and technologies to market needs and business strategies.
  • Apply functional safety engineering and systems engineering rigor.
  • Distill complex technical data into meaningful conclusions actionable insights.
  • Prepare complete schedules and presentations/reports for assigned projects.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and abroad. Potential travel up to 10%.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in engineering.
  • Experience in HVAC/R and refrigerants.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership.
Desired Experience:
  • Advanced degree in engineering.
  • Expertise in refrigeration systems and refrigerants.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards for HVACR.
  • Functional safety engineering experience.
