Overview

Room & Board has a unique opportunity for a Finance Planning and Reporting Manager. The individual will report to the Vice President of Finance and lead a team of four established professionals (3 financial analysts & 1 System Admin) within a $700M+ privately-held, financially secure home furnishings business that is committed to growing and making investments in both the business and our staff members.

In this role you will have complete ownership of the financial reporting and planning function. As a working manager, you will spend equal parts on the technical (financial reporting, planning & tools) and people (leading/coaching/growing the team). You will build strong rapport with business partners across our retail showrooms and outlet, delivery and distribution centers and central office and work closely to understand their needs and to establish plans to support their operations (sales, freight, staffing, delivery, etc.).

We offer a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office for our leadership positions.

The Experience, Skills and Education you bring as a Finance Planning and Reporting Manager:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (MIS degree a plus!)
  • 7-10 years financial, accounting, analytics or reporting experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience involving financial accounting, reporting and planning; preferably within a privately-held entity.
  • Working knowledge of software reporting/planning tools: preferably SAP and/or Host Analytics (or similar Hyperion, Essbase).
  • Prior experience within a similar size company ($700M+ revenue) is important.
  • Prior experience within the retail industry considered a "plus".

  • You'll join a 15-person finance team that manages the accounting functions and produces the monthly financial statements and reporting packages and also plays a vital role in protecting the company's intellectual and physical assets. They identify core measures that are fundamental to understanding the health of our business in the moment, allowing us to be nimble as we adjust our plans and attain successful outcomes.
