CAD Technician

The CAD Technician inputs information from drawings and written instructions to computer software to create production files for fabrication under the supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Creates files to interface with production equipment such as CAM Machines, Graphics Plotters, and letter forming machines. Assists with preparation of sales and other presentations.

Obtains information provided by co-workers and translates for input into AutoCAD, FlexiSIGN, or related software

Checks drawings for inconsistencies and misspellings; requests additional information as necessary

Communicates with Production and Sales staff to ensure efficiency and quality; asks questions if necessary

Ability to clean-up artwork, as necessary

Creates production files containing all needed product components

Imports and exports files into required software

Creates CAD generated files of sign components to interface with production equipment, expediting the production process

Works as a willing, contributing member in a team environment, striving for group success

Recalls procedures used in each job and transfers that knowledge to subsequent jobs

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED required

Previous related on-the-job training required

Previous CAD and drafting experience necessary; experience with CAD software as it applies to production; proficiency in 2D CAD software

Must be able to read and understand blueprints written in English

Good math skills

Effective communication skills

Satisfactory experience in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Extremely detail oriented and organized
