Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner will be a direct provider of mental health assessment and medication management with the collaboration of a psychiatrist. As a primary provider, the Nurse Practitioner - Behavioral Health provides a source of entry for the patient into the healthcare system through identification and management of healthcare of individuals and families (consistent with description of practice of certifying specialty). Mental health assessments are done in both routine and emergency situations. Care provided emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention, as well as diagnosis and management of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions. The NP works autonomously, as well as in collaboration with his/her psychiatrist mentor, according to HP or Regions Hospital and ICSI Guidelines. Patients are encouraged to be responsible for their own health behavior through education, support and involvement in their plan of care.
Relationship building skills are essential, as our model is strongly based in collaborative care among disciplines, both within our clinic and with primary care. This position will work with patients ages 18 to adulthood.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal nurse practitioner program in psychiatry; Masters' degree required for candidates graduating after 1992.
Experience:
-Must have completed 2080 hours of clinical supervision
-One year of experience as a Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner is preferred, but not required
