NPX Medical/Nextern is hiring for the role of Laser Welding Technician to join our growing team to support the development and manufacturing of new and novel medical devices. This roles comes with competitive pay and a full benefits package (details below)
The ideal candidate has a laser welding background in the Medical Device Industry. The candidate also has a desire to support smart and efficient quality driven development and manufacturing of Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 medical devices at NPX Medical's headquarters in Plymouth, MN.
The ability to understand, internalize, and make fast-paced, data-driven, risk-based decisions, in the best interest of the customer and company, within the bounds of domestic and foreign regulations and standards, is a must.
Evidence of exceptional ability and a demonstrated track record of execution is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting laser welding projects from inception through production
Assisting in the development of tooling and fixtures for laser welding parts
Provide technical support to engineering staff (providing suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment)
Inspection of parts and final assemblies per provided specification
Maintaining records and files of all completed engineering work (routers/travelers)
Conduct regular maintenance on products and equipment
Ensure that all safety procedures are observed during laboratory work
Assisting in the development of tooling and fixtures for heat setting mandrels
Heat setting/forming of laser cut and braided medical device metal components
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Good dexterity and enjoys a hands-on working environment
Pays close attention to detail.
Exhibit strong organizational skills
Possess solid writing skills
Communicate clearly and effectively
Experience laser welding medical devices
Preferred Qualifications:
General understanding of how laser parameters effect laser weld output
Comfortable selecting laser welding parameters and developing welding procedures for new laser welded assemblies
Working in a fast-paced product development, process development, and manufacturing environment
Develop and perform part specific testing per customer request (i.e. tensile and bending testing)
Experience heat setting/forming laser cut and braided medical device metal components (nitinol, cobalt chromium, stainless steel)
