Equipment Maintenance Manager
Job Type: Full Time / Year Round
Job Description: The Equipment Maintenance Manager’s role will be to maintain and repair a large fleet of agricultural equipment to maintain a high level of operational efficiency. The individual in this role will need to have a high level of detail along with being able to perform the work needed in a timely manner. Previous experience with ag related equipment (planters, combines, potato equipment, trucks and tractors) is a plus!
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment
- Schedule and perform routine maintenance on tractors, trucks, implements, sprayers and combines
- Perform maintenance and repairs in the shop and in the field
- Maintain an efficient shop working environment including safety, security and cleanliness of the shop and surrounding area (i.e., making sure tools are cleaned up after each project and all workstations are free from obstructions)
- Keeping detailed paperwork of all maintenance and repairs performed on each piece of equipment
- Help maintain a proper level of inventory to include parts, filters, oil, fluids, and shop supplies
- Help with seeding and harvest activities
- Manage other shop workers
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Willingness to help, learn and try anything even if outside a comfort zone
- Prior farm experience
- Experience working with mechanics and hydraulics
- Preventative maintenance
- Punctual, reliable with a strong work ethic and good attitude
- Can manage workload during busy seasons and work in different areas as farm demands dictate
- Ability to operate various types of equipment
- Physically capable of performing equipment maintenance, working long hours seasonally and operating equipment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Knowledge & Skills:
- Welding ability
- Electrical knowledge
- Diesel knowledge
- Pesticide applicator’s license or ability to acquire
- Class A CDL
Job Schedule: Monday – Friday (with some Saturdays and Sundays necessary during peak seasons). There are varying work hours required depending on the season:
- November 1 – May 1 = approximately 40 hours/week
- May 1 – June 20 = approximately 60 + hours/week
- June 20 – September 1 = approximately 50 hours/week
- September 1 - Nov 1 = approximately 75-80 hours/week
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Work is performed in both shop and outdoor environments year-round (varying from cold winters to hot summers). May work with a variety of equipment and tools and in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
Pay Rate: Pay is dependent on experience and performance.
