YOUR ROLE

  • Manage the productivity of Lab Technicians performing quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to inspection plan and specifications
  • Identify, lead, and facilitate projects aimed at improving productivity and reduce total supply chain costs. (Example: assess test workload, labor requirements, identify areas of waste, implement efforts to eliminate waste, train lab personnel to improve performance, SAP, document control, records, and retains)
  • Management of personnel to include scheduled work hours, timecards, disciplinary needs, vacation or other time off, and training across all shifts.
  • Manage test equipment: calibrations, verifications, PMs, and repair of test equipment as needed in-house or using service vendors.
  • Communication of coordinated activities with other functions to provide feedback on schedule impact, status of samples, arrange for high priority items, and any other activities where lab is coordinated with other functions.
  • Participate in and manage the 5S program, basic problem solving (PDCA)
  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules, procedures and regulations as it pertains to lab function.
  • Identify and report all non-conforming materials (NCMR); coordinate the release of materials.
  • Support for complaint investigations, continuous improvement activities, and non-standard testing protocols
  • Maintain required records and retain samples; ensure disposition of old retain samples, ensuring proper disposal of waste streams from the lab.
  • Complete and maintain the required quality records and/or documents as directed by the department standard operating procedures
  • Leads projects for improvement within lab and between key functional groups for timely, correct sampling and reporting results.
  • Assists in maintaining quality module systems within SAP for all materials.
  • Provide regular metric reports as required by management.
  • Member of internal audit team, conducts internal audits, assigns and drives corrective action tasks to completion, and performs verification and effectiveness reviews as required.
  • Drive continual improvement of assigned processes, participates in continual improvement programs as required.
  • Any additional responsibilities/tasks as assigned.


YOUR SKILLS

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent (containing at least Organic Chemistry II and Quantitative Analysis), a minimum 10 years technical/lab experience, and must have 5 years manufacturing/leadership experience
  • Knowledgeable in the use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and calibration techniques, as well as materials testing - viscosity testing, melting point testing and general lab testing
  • Understanding of TS 16949, ISO 9001, and PPAP requirements with practical application in the aforementioned industry
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, Six Sigma, or statistical experience preferred
  • Excellent team working, project management, and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency - MS Office, SAP
  • Willingness to have flexible work hours in order to frequently interface with team and key contacts in other geographical regions worldwide
