EL Elementary Teacher

Position Purpose: To help students learn in the 4 modalities of English, content, and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. To help English Learners through their acculturation process.
 
Responsibilities:
Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, students and families.
Teaches District approved curriculum.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
Diagnoses the learning styles, cultural preferences, and strengths and challenges of all students.
Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Serves as case manager, including writing ILPs, facilitating ACCESS testing, and advising regulared staff.
Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
ND Teaching License or ability to obtain prior to start date with Bilingual/ESL Endorsement or
Plan on File to acquire ESL within 2 years of hire.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years teaching experience
