Excel Engineering, Inc. is taking applications for a team-oriented, highly motivated and experienced Electrical Designer for our Mounds View, Minnesota office. We offer full service Electrical and Control System Engineering Consulting services in the US and abroad.

Job Description

The Electrical Designer will be expected to use knowledge of the electrical power systems and applicable standards to perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:

??? Design related tasks as directed by Department Manager or Project Manager

??? CAD drafting on projects

??? Prepare plans, designs and supporting technical specifications

??? Perform calculations

??? Make simple design decisions within corporate established guidelines, procedures and practices and apply sound basic electrical design/engineering methods to develop design

. Requirements:

Education

??? Two year technical diploma in electrical design OR AS degree in associated field

Qualifications

??? Two (2) years' experience preferred

??? Display proficiency in AC and DC circuit design

??? Display proficiency at using AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical

??? Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

??? Knowledge of power distribution 120V through 480V

??? Knowledge of installation documents, technical specification, and bid documents

??? Knowledge of Electrical Safety requirements (NFPA 70E)

??? Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)

??? Ability to manage electrical design projects

??? Highly detail oriented

??? Motivated and growth orientated

??? Willing to travel up to 20% of the time

??? Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communications

??? Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment

Optional Skills Applicable to the Role

??? Experience as a residential, commercial or industrial electrician

??? Four year degree in electrical engineering
