This position is located in Maple Grove, Minnesota and will be required to be in the office on a hybrid basis.

Primary Objective of Position:

The PCB / CAM Conversion Engineer will be responsible for processing and converting a wide range of customer supplied electronic files for the PCB (printed circuit board) test industry. The output of the files is used for designing, manufacturing, and wire verification of PCB test fixtures. This person will interact with sales, engineering, and the wire departments to establish and improve current methods.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Receive and process customer-supplied data and implement data conversion scripts, tools and processes in order to transfer data from source locations to desired system, database, or other data storage locations
  • Process electronic board CAD and Gerber files into useable AutoCAD drawings of the Unit Under Test (UUT), using Mentor Graphics CamCad
  • Identify issues or discrepancies and communicate with Account Manager to resolve
  • Support the Account Manager in the quoting process by pre-processing file data sets
  • Ensure that quality and integrity of data is maintained during the data conversion process
  • Work with engineering and production personnel to ensure files are accurately formatted
  • Edit and format files using TextPad
  • Participate in continuous process improvements
  • Consistently communicate with Account Manger to receive and clarify customer specifications
  • Communicate with customer as needed to clarify requirements
  • Maintain correct time registration reporting with accurate entries for job progress
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of intellectual property (ITAR, Prototype)
  • Provide support for all wiring questions as able

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience
  • Experience in PCB cad, test engineering, electronics manufacturing, AutoCAD, PCB s or test fixtures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of In-Circuit test fixtures (3070, Genrad, Teradyne, etc. testers) and functional test fixtures
  • Knowledge of electronic CAD files, CAMCAD software, or Solidworks
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to understand blueprints and schematics
  • Solid analytical skills; able to resolve complex technical problems with innovative solutions
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are required
  • Capacity to deal with a high workload and deadline pressure
  • Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature and a sense of urgency
  • Focus, great attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks is necessary
  • Ability to work extended hours as job duties demand

Physical Requirements (these physical requirements must be performed with or without accommodation):

  • Majority of time is spent in usual office working conditions. This position is required to be on-site, in the office one day per week. Individual may work work from home four days per week.
  • Ability to sit for extended lengths of time is required; bend, reach, stoop and twist as required
  • Heavy use of an office computer for completing work
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; risk of electrical shock
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing areas which may entail exposure to dirt, dust, noise, machine chemicals, fumes and other attributes common to this environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
