_The Melt role is a team-based position and plays a crucial role in the success of each molding line. This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience. However, you must be able to tolerate a loud, warm, and physically challenging work environment. The successful applicant must be able to work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods of time, and handle molten metal in a safe and confident manner. The position does offer the opportunity for cross-training and experience in a variety of tasks related to production._

_?? Base pay rate of *$21.91*, 2nd shift premium: $0.70_

_?? *2nd shift pay rate: $22.61*_

_?? Base rates increase *$1.00*/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)_

*_Melt Operator: _*

_?? Must be available to work 8-12 hour shifts_

_?? Must be available for overtime as production needs require_

_?? *Monday - Friday, some Saturdays, and Sundays required.*_

_?? *2nd shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm*_

*_Melt Operator Duties and Responsibilities: _*

_?? *Practice a high level of safety at all times*_

_?? Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are highly desirable_

_?? Demonstrate ability to monitor furnace conditions_

_?? Accurately take readings_

_?? Make refractory repairs to cupola, ladles, and furnaces._

_?? Haul iron_

_?? Slag off molten iron_

_?? Rod and dump the furnace_

_?? Maintain cleanliness of production area_

_?? Operate yard crane to accurately weigh charge metals into the weigh hopper_

_?? Load and unload rail cars_

_?? Break up returns_

_?? Maintain the yard in an orderly fashion_

_?? Plot and adjust chemistry over iron_

_?? Demonstrate the ability to charge the cupola_

_?? Operate bobcat and forklift_

_?? Move and process materials_

_?? Receive and process scrap_
