Position Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer is involved with all aspects of developing and supporting products. This includes taking products from concept to full production

This is an equipment manufacturer that has Pneumatics/Hydraulics for their systems, so experience in that is essential.

Summary:

  • Develop products from concept through full production
  • Create and maintain computer based solid-models, layouts and drawings
  • Mechanical modeling and layout of electrical and hydraulic components
  • Full responsibility for all engineering documentation, specifications and required data for assigned projects
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material and drawings, process engineering change notices
  • Audit Bills of Material during equipment builds
  • Develop and analyze mechanisms
  • Perform cost analysis and cost reduction projects
  • Basic electrical design, component selection and documentation
  • Basic hydraulic system design, component selection and documentation
  • Develop and maintain component requirements and specifications
  • Support of other company functions in a cross-functional team based environment, including manufacturing, quality, marketing and sales
  • Direct customer support as necessary
  • Stress analysis, manual and computer assisted
  • Kinematic and dynamic analysis, manual and computer assisted
  • Material selection, treatment and metallurgy
  • Selection and specification of purchased components
  • New product validation and testing
  • Travel estimated at up to 15%
  • Drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent the design engineering team with professionalism and integrity when communicating and working with the customer, cross functional teams and the entire organization.
  • Full responsibility for providing the customer (internal and external) with service and products that exceed expectations.
  • Creation and maintenance of aftermarket support material including parts manuals and operation/user manuals

  • Strong CAD skills, Creo preferred
  • MS Office Suite proficiency, Outlook, Word, Excel and Project
  • Developing proficiency with FMEA, DFMAT, Root cause analysis, Poka-Yoke, SPC, GD&T
  • Developing experience with, ERP, MRP, cost roll-up, inventory control, work orders, PLM
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic aptitude
  • Willingness to travel to customer and manufacturing sites
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Goal driven to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and on schedule

Required Education:

  • BSME or comparable from an ABET accredited institution
