Job Description
This is a Lead Team position for the mill s maintenance organization, providing strategic and tactical leadership to approximately 55 maintenance and boilerhouse employees. Key responsibilities include proper maintenance of mill assets, management of indirect spending, managing capital spending, application of reliability systems and principles and driving improvement through implementation maintenance best practices.
Accountabilities
As a leader in the mill, help ensure all mill employees are "safe from the start" by teaching, coaching and following up to ensure established safe work practices are being followed as well as compliance to federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Drive improvement in safety performance in the maintenance, engineering and boilerhouse areas by engaging employees on development of safer work practices.
Ensure maintenance best practices and systems, including MWS, lubrication, precision maintenance and predictive maintenance are in use to improve efficiency and effectiveness of all maintenance activities.
Work closely with operations personnel to improve reliability, availability and OME through aligned goals, systems and tactics designed to maximize R-Gap closure.
Lead the effort of the maintenance department to increase employee technical proficiency by working with the team to identify, prioritize, plan for and close skills and knowledge gaps.
Administer an effective succession plan to ensure sustainable talent levels in the maintenance shops.
Provide direction to the Capital & Engineering Manager to oversee the effective implementation of the mill capital plan and ensure that the mill has a solid comprehensive facility preservation strategy including appropriate capital allocation.
Continuously improve the processes and technology in all operating areas of the facility to reduce manufacturing cost, improve product performance, and improve process capability in the operation. Promote development and use of best practices in operations.
Assist in implementing the mill s quality improvement and compliance programs including ensuring that ISO procedures are adhered to.
Maintain harmonious relations with employees by administering contract provisions and company policies to avoid breach of contract, to ensure conformance to work rules and regulations, and to administer appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
Provide weekend coverage of the mill as scheduled.
Set expectations that direct reports utilize the Performance Management database.
