Program Focus: Academic Partnerships and Strategy

The Optum Labs Academic Partnerships and Strategy program creates and manages external research partnerships with university researchers, institutions, and health advocacy organizations to partner with the nation's largest healthcare company to solve society's most pressing healthcare problems. Your responsibilities will include owning and driving the strategy for the Academic Partnerships program, working cross-teams to define the engagement and data sharing processes, review new project proposals, scale the program globally, attract top researchers and scientists to join the program, create the opportunities to work on key research with demonstrated leadership in the market.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from select cities within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the strategy to create a best-in-class program that attracts top talent to solve complex healthcare problems
  • Create project plans, secure commitments, identify risks and mitigations to the success of the program
  • Create buy-in for the program vision with key stakeholders and partners
  • Develop, own, and drive a detailed program roadmap comprised of the timeline, inputs, and outputs
  • Continuously use metrics to evaluate the program impact and find new ways to improve for best results
  • Identify opportunities to generate new ideas to unlock new research and development projects
  • Influence program design based on business objectives, research questions, resourcing, and operational capabilities
  • Use effective strategies to share information, collaborate, and execute across multiple teams
  • Drive program decisions and communicate the strategy across multiple teams
  • Manage cross-functional team dependencies at the organization level
  • Ensure all deliverables are in compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, HEDIS, CMS, State/Federal requirements)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in program management, product development, business operations, research, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience leading and influencing program design and development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with end-to-end program delivery
  • Experience leading teams and prioritizing deliverables
  • Demonstrated leadership building enterprise relationships and driving business results through cross functional partnerships and relations
  • Track record of taking ownership, acting with urgency, putting customers first, and looking into the future
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills to all levels in the organization

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $174,600 to $332,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
