JOB SUMMARY

The Total Rewards Director will be responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive Total Rewards strategy and programs to drive the University of St. Thomas 2025 strategic vision. This role will lead the compensation, benefits and payroll functions within the University of St. Thomas. The Total Rewards Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the administration of compensation programs, policies, and procedures to ensure they are strategic, competitive, and culturally aligned. This position provides overall direction and thought leadership for the development, implementation and maintenance of university wide health and welfare benefits

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Total Rewards Strategy Leadership:

Develop a Total Rewards Philosophy & Strategy encompassing compensation, benefits and recognition that aligns with our values/culture, goals and creates a competitive advantage.

Provide ongoing strategic and data-driven insights around the Total Rewards program

Ensure market competitiveness and recommends cost-effective methods to enhance talent acquisition, retention, and employee engagement through the development of effective total rewards. Provide market intelligence and competitive market benchmarking.

Ensure compliance with governmental regulations related to compensation and benefit programs

Compensation Strategy and Team Management

Research, develop and implement best practices for compensation management, including, but not limited to, creating a transparent job grade structure, developing incentive pay plans, managing promotions and salary change requests.

Manages overall compensation review planning process to include merit, bonus, pay incentives, and equity programs

Benefits and Payroll leadership

Works with Benefits Manager to ensure effective strategy and administration of employee benefit programs and plans including Retirement, Medical, Dental, Tuition remission and other fringe benefits.

Drive efficiencies and accuracy in the delivery of UST Payroll.

HR Leadership

Provide leadership to and direct supervision of compensation team members and Benefits and Payroll Manager through effective coaching and performance management.

With the CHRO and other HR leaders, accountable for the development and success of the entire HR team. Sponsors and leads cross functional HR strategic initiatives to drive the 2025 strategy. Identifies and breaks down barriers and silos. Fosters an environment of inclusion, feedback and excitement for the future.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management or a closely related field

Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR management

Minimum 4 years Total Rewards or Compensation leadership experience

Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or eligible for legally required exemption such as a medical or religious reason.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree preferred

Higher education experience preferred

Experience leading Total Rewards through a lens of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
