Strom Engineering Minnesota has an exciting new opening for an Electrical Distribution Engineering Technician with a great power company located in the Twin Cities, MN area.
Summary: The Distribution Engineering Technician will support the engineering team in configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining the electrical system engineering model, SCADA system/Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and SCADA/ADMS connected field devices. This position does support a hybrid work arrangement, sharing work hours between your home office and our campus.
Responsibilities/Duties:
* Configure and maintain power company's SCADA system to improve the efficiency, reliability and prevent damage to the electric distribution system.
* Perform analysis using our distribution engineering model to support distribution system planning and engineering efforts to provide for a reliable, economical distribution system.
* Support engineering team in finalizing the planning and engineering releases, screening and analyzing interconnection applications, and auditing field equipment connectivity.
* Configure, install and maintain the control system for running customer owned distributed generation to reduce the Cooperative's demand charges and to improve the efficiency of the electric distribution system.
* Provide technical support for our SCADA system in programming, troubleshooting and maintaining controls to maintain safe and reliable distribution system operation.
Skills/Qualifications:
* Education: Associates or 2-year technical degree in electrical technology, electric utility technology, energy services, engineering technician or related field.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related systems.
* Strong organizational skills to maintain large amounts of data.
* Experience in utility engineering or related field preferred.
* Ability to read maps, staking sheets and electrical schematic diagrams preferred.
* Ability to learn and apply National Electrical Safety Code and construction standard preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Must be a U.S. Citizen or be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.
