Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ownership of activities concerned with scheduling and coordinating engineering design and test issues and bring to resolution. Responsible for managing project timeline and within budget.
Coordinate project personnel activities to specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, and technical plans, product testing, validation, and procurement control.
Prepare project cost estimates and determine overall budget.
Track project costs and resolve cost issues with goal to improve overall performance.
Serve as communication link with customer on technical and commercial elements of projects.
Coordinate and participate in reviews of customer specifications and product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and quality standards. Initiate documents as required by procedures from these reviews.
Review customer/project requirements, specifications, schedules to determine needed support activities. Communicate all identified clarifications and exceptions to the customer and obtain approval.
Develop documentation per company procedure and appropriate standards. Follow up with internal groups on proper handling of documents. Responsible for handling technical submittals to customer.
Direct integration of technical activities and products with internal and external resources. If needed, will initiate procurement documentation for external support.
Prepare interim and completion project reports. Communicate on a periodic basis with project team members and management team.
Provide engineering support functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, business, project management or equivalent.
Ability to utilize software for the following applications: word processing, spreadsheet, Gantt charts, and related applications.
Ability to independently perform most assignments with instruction only regarding general expected results.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or feedback from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Able to travel to manufacturing facilities and customer sites, if needed up to 25%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Five to eight years industry-related experience in design engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two to four years project engineering-related experience, including scheduling and project budget management.
Ability to use and apply computer-based project management tools.
Experience in design and/or test engineering in the air moving industry.
Experience in the application of nuclear requirements and/or other detailed customer requirements
PMI certification preferred but not required.

Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
