Job Description

A Survey Technician is responsible for the following duties:
  • Layout (surveying) work
  • Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including all embedded items before placement of concrete
  • Assist with quality control, safety program, and coordination of subcontractors as delegated by the project superintendent
  • Coordinate material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with the delivery status. Additionally, verify materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality, and condition, and check for missing and/or damaged items
  • Assist Foremen with interpretation of plans and specifications
  • Set up and operate various types of survey equipment
  • Field survey measurements using various equipment
  • Perform basic survey calculations for grading and stake-out coordinates
  • Work closely with teammates to gain understanding of project requirements
  • Review and interpret survey maps, records and construction drawings. Support the overall Construction Management Team and projects
  • Support existing conditions and as-built surveys for upcoming and current projects
  • Perform reality capture services utilizing terrestrial laser scanning and UAV/photogrammetry tools to capture, process, and document existing and as-built conditions
  • Support and/or perform initial surveying & field layout activities with robotic total stations to support field validation, quality control and quality assurance
  • Drone use for aerial progress photography, 3D point cloud capture, and registration
  • Process data using 3D modeling and photo processing tools
  • Support/Perform 360 Photo capture and post processing activities
  • Support on-site construction team efforts in the implementation of BIM to Field equipment and/or software
  • 80% travel required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Must have working knowledge of your area of responsibility
  • Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Surveying or similar degree
  • Part 107 Drone License and/or ability to obtain it
  • Must have valid Driver License
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Computer skills - ongoing development to include Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, and Trimble Field Link
