Job Details

This role will be during regular business hours, with the flexibility to support nights, weekends, and some holidays as project work, etc dictates.

Position Summary:
This role is part of the plant management team and has a broad range of technical responsibilities including: project management, production support, continuous improvement, plant maintenance, and plant engineering. This position uses continuous improvement, plant engineering, and preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies to drive significant improvements in manufacturing efficiencies. You will have 5 direct and 20 indirect reports.

Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overseeing development, planning, and execution of small and large capital projects for plant operations. Responsibilities include: defining project scope, developing solutions, and partnering with vendors, consultants, and contractors to develop and install projects. Drive control schedule to accomplish projects on time and within cost estimate
  • Lead team in the identification of production and process changes, partner with operations leadership to develop and implement engineering improvements, resulting in greater operational efficiencies
  • Set vision for maintenance function regarding preventative maintenance program. Drive continuous improvement in maintenance program leading to predictive maintenance model.
  • Ensure vision is set and resources available to strategically develop technical skill sets for maintenance staff; partner with Human Resources to establish clear employee development programs and external talent pipelines for skilled trades
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater value; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and development for Plant Engineer and Production teams; assisting in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams including advancement of the understanding of lean principles (TPM) and techniques; focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Programs, along with proactively identifying and executing all continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation.
  • Participates and supports all Quality and Safety audits and annual certifications, including internal audits and paperwork compliance

Education And Experience Required:
  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical)
  • 8+ years Engineering experience (Project, Process, or Plant)
  • 3+ years experience in food manufacturing
  • Must have previous experience managing multiple large projects simultaneously
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Education, Experience, And Skills:
  • 15+ years Engineering experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and strong LEAN Manufacturing expertise: 5+ years with black belt
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Previous experience with Auto CAD
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic planning skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
